Manchester United Double winner Paul Parker believes manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be doing better by Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman, signed from Ajax in the summer, has struggled for game-time.
Parker told GrandNational.org: “I question how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer uses Donny Van de Beek. Even [against Everton] for example, why did he bring on Fred and not Van de Beek? It was the perfect opportunity to bring on someone who could link with Fernandes and fill in the role of an absent Paul Pogba.
“I wanted him to have a chance to play ahead of Pogba, but that didn't happen, then Pogba was taken off injured and I couldn't understand why Ole introduced Fred. The game didn't need Fred. Manchester United needed ball retention in the midfield.
“You need to keep shifting the ball when you play a team like Everton. Ole didn't need to bring on another holding player.
“Donny Van de Beek is great at moving the ball up and down the pitch, he's industrious, gets into that forward line, he's a thinker and can see space. He takes people away, drawing them in and plays around them, which is perfect, but he just doesn't get the game time. Is he an Ole signing or is he a Manchester United signing – I don't know."
