Real Madrid rejected the chance of first refusal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

The 22-year-old has been discussed as a possible Sergio Ramos replacement at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, yet when Los Blancos were negotiating the sale of Oscar Rodriguez to Sevilla last summer, they reportedly turned down the right of first refusal over Kounde.

"Real Madrid, when the transfer of Oscar Rodriguez to Sevilla took place last summer, could have been close to him," Pedro Riesco revealed on Radio MARCA.

"Madrid asked for 15 million [euros], [but Sevilla] tried to keep that figure down [by offering] 13 and a half million [euros] and the opportunity to have preference over Kounde."

Kounde has been in the headlines on Thursday morning after scoring Sevilla's opening goal in their 2-0 win over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
