Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has slammed Gareth Bale for his absence in the midweek FA Cup defeat at Everton.

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho admits Bale wasn't injured for the tie, but asked not to be considered.

"If Bale really had a scan and they discovered that he had some problem that could lead to an injury, then I can understand that he did not want to play. But if there was nothing, if he was available and his desire was really not to play, we have a problem. 'Not being comfortable to play' what the heck does that mean if you're not injured?" blasted Berbatov on Betfair.

The former Tottenham striker can understand why Mourinho is upset with the Wales captain.

"It's normal that Mourinho is not happy. All this Bale return started very well, with a lot of fanfare, but right now it is a bad situation for Tottenham. And honestly, I have no idea how it can be resolved. May there be a happy ending."
