Repeat offender charged with murder of girlfriend

Kota Kinabalu: A 30-year-old man, with 13 previous conviction records, was charged with killing his girlfriend.

Hartono Janang (pic) from Tandek, Kota Marudu, was brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles, to face the charge against him on Tuesday.

He is accused of murdering one Kamalia Yussop at 6.55pm on Jan 19 this year in Bandaran Berjaya area, here.

The offence, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death sentence on conviction.

However, no plea was taken from Hartono as his plea would be recorded at the High Court.

The court set April 12 this year for mention pending the post-mortem and medical reports.

Pending the date, Hartono was ordered remanded further as the charge against him has no provision for bail.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik appeared for the prosecution while Hartono was not represented.
