Liverpool cult hero Ronny Rosenthal has had his say on the club's current crisis.

Rosenthal, who helped Liverpool win the league in 1990, says the situation is still a simple slump.

He told TMW: "I believe more in the classic hiccup, which is not necessarily a match, but which can last up to 10 matches. I don't believe in the crisis in such a short period and all of them, especially in these moments, can go through complicated moments.

"It is clear that if the situation were to last until the end of the season then we would be faced with a problem, but I think this Liverpool can recover. Sometimes it is not just a technical crisis, but a combination of unfortunate factors: you may play well but the ball decides not to go in. And the others punish you.

"The injuries have highlighted one thing: the reserves are not at the same level as the starters. I don't think Matip is at the top level but in any case he too is injured, as well as Gomez and Van Dijk.

"Kabak is young and needs to be evaluated, but the feeling is that the damage created in the centre of the defense has not been fixed."

Asked about a title hangover, Rosenthal added: "This can be, even if unconsciously it can happen that you don't feel the same hunger. And coming to my previous one I would say yes, we too had started to lose a series of games and our coach, Kenny Dalglish, decided at the end to leave. You know, when you are at Liverpool you feel the pressure and obviously Dalglish was suffering too much."
