Kota Kinabalu: With nearly 100,000 Malaysians losing their jobs last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, animal welfare groups as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) saw a drop in donations, too. 

In a Daily Express survey, recently, the associations expressed exasperation over the lack of financial resources to help them rescue more animals or even run their shelters.
