Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder can't believe the criticism for Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche over his media conferences.

Dyche was accused of being overly-flippant in the run-up to an important game against Manchester City after going off at a tangent to discuss his love of spotting famous look-alikes in everyday situations.

Wilder said: "Sean's not just an incredible football manager who has done a brilliant job, he's a very funny, smart and sharp guy. I like his company and I like listening to what he has to say.

"You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't when it comes to showing a bit of your character in interviews. I think there's a danger more managers will put up the shutters because of this type of reaction."

Wilder insists his public persona won't change, and he added: "The guys who cover us will vouch that my press conferences aren't just straightforward affairs. I haven't got a straight bat like Sir Geoffrey Boycott to bat away questions. It's quite varied at times.

"No-one will change me and the way I go about things, and certainly no-one is going to change Sean but other managers will do what's best for them."
