PETALING JAYA: Travellers to Sabah and Labuan must go for a swab test three days before they depart, but do not need to be quarantined when they arrive, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said. Travellers entering Sarawak, meanwhile, will have to undergo swab tests three days before departure and also be quarantined for 14 days after arrival, FMT reported. On the other hand, travellers from Sabah, Labuan or Sarawak who wish to enter the peninsula will not need to undergo swab tests or quarantine.
He said individuals must first receive police permission and only those testing negative with no symptoms are allowed to travel. He said the Sarawak state government would bear quarantine and swab test costs for Sarawakians only, adding that travellers from other states need to bear their own costs. He also announced that two localities in Bintulu, Sarawak and a school in Melaka will go under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
These are rented houses in Anong and Beverly Hills, Bintulu, Sarawak and Henry Gurney School in Telok Mas, Melaka. The EMCO at Bintulu Sarawak will come into effect from tomorrow until March 18 while EMCO at the school will start from March 6 until March 19. He said this follows advice and risk analysis by the health ministry after a hike in Covid-19 cases in these areas. * Subscribe to the Daily Express' official Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
