The Argentina attacker will be in the final year of his contract when this season concludes.
The 29-year-old has experienced his share of injury problems since coming to the club.
He has played 29 games this term and scored four goals.
The issue is that he has only started five Premier League games this term.
Bologna director Walter Sabatini confirmed the club were interested in signing Lamela
"Lamela is one of the names we are looking into," Sabatini said.
"We are trying to understand if there are possibilities to get there. We'll see."
