Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has given a reference to ex-Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.
While McInnes had been at Aberdeen for the past eight years, he has now departed by mutual consent.
The Scottish club will look for another manager, and McInnes is left to ponder his next move.
Ferguson has a history with Aberdeen, having led the team to domestic and European successes in the 1980s, before going to Manchester United.
"Derek is a top-class, experienced manager who still has the energy of youth," Ferguson said, per Sky Sports.
"He is capable of taking on a big job.
"If I was asked for a reference for him, I would gladly supply it."
