Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder's position is in doubt.

The Daily Mail says Wilder's future with the Blades is being threatened by disagreements with the club's owners over key issues such as recruitment and the state of the training ground.

Blades manager Wilder – responsible for taking the club back in to the Premier League from the wilderness of League One – revealed this week that he doesn't know if he will be at Bramall Lane beyond the summer.

Wilder publicly called on owner Abdullah bin Musa'ad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to back him but it is understood that the former United full-back fears the club will not be able to bounce back from what would appear to be certain relegation to the Championship if key matters are not addressed.

Wilder would like to stay at his boyhood club beyond the end of this season but at the moment it looks highly unlikely.

It is understood that the owners are keen for a director of football to take control of recruitment.

They believe his record in that department since they bought he club has not been good enough.
