Arsenal great Liam Brady has questioned whether they'll ever reach the top of the English game again.
Brady spent 20 years in charge of the Gunners academy after retirement.
He told the Daily Mail: "The club is at a crossroads and we don't know if we will see an Arsenal team competing for the league again in the near future.
"The masterplan designed by Ivan Gazidis has badly backfired since Arsene Wenger left. Gazidis put in place Raul Sanllehi to be in charge of transfer negotiations and Sven Mislintat to identify players. Mislintat left very quickly because he couldn't get on with Sanllehi, who's dealings were questionable, far from what Gazidis and Kroenke would have wanted. Gazidis' even left before his choice of Unai Emery as a coach failed also.
"Now Arteta needs time and support and the pressure is on Edu to improve recruitment as it has not been good enough.
"Apart from Kieran Tierney and Gabriel Martinelli no players have increased in value since they joined. The rest of them you would be lucky to get your money back on. Look how Liverpool bought and sold Coutinho for over £100m profit and used that money to transform the club.
"Let's be fair, Kroenke supported Wenger, Emery and Arteta, but we haven't bought a player who has suddenly become world class. Will that encourage him to sign off another £250m this summer?"
