Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits there's a frustration seeing Jonny Evans at Leicester City.
Solskjaer was still a player under Sir Alex Ferguson when Evans was an emerging young defender coming through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.
The Northern Ireland centre back, now a key cog in Leicester's Champions League push, played over 200 games for United before Louis van Gaal sold him to West Brom in a £6million deal that even shocked Ferguson.
Evans, now 33, is approaching 100 games for Leicester after his move from the Hawthorns to the King Power Stadium in 2018 – and Solskjaer regrets that the Irishman isn't still at Old Trafford.
“You know, Jonny Evans should have been a Manchester United player now, of course.
"But sometimes football takes you other places when changes in management happen.
“I'm sure that Jonny Evans has feelings for Manchester United and we have feelings for him too" says the United chief.
“So it is a pleasure to see him playing as well as he does and we just have to move on.
"But of course, local lads – I call them local lads, you know what I mean – we want to build our next youth team on players like Jonny Evans, if you like.
“With Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay and Dean Henderson and all of the lads, added on with top quality players of course."
