Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta insists he was right to vote against signing Manchester City defender Eric Garcia in January.
Election rival Victor Font has insisted coach Ronald Koeman was let down by not buying Garcia.
But Laporta argues: "Ronald Koeman? He wanted a central defender. Some wanted to pay €10m for a player at the end of the contract.
"I felt it was better to wait and he understood. The signatures? (Victor) Font is contradictory. He says we can't recruit, but he wants to pay €10m for Eric Garcia. Of course we will be able to recruit. I will ask that the clubs respect (financial) fair play."
