Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes contract talks with Fernandinho can wait.

The Brazilian was in excellent form as City marched into the FA Cup semi finals.

City defeated Everton 2-0 away from home in a contest where the home side was defending for long periods, with City having a lot of possession.

Fernandinho was at his very best in his 26th appearance of the season.

Asked about his defensive midfielder renewing, Guardiola told reporters: "We have time for that.

"(It was) Another exceptional performance," he added.

"He is composed. He knows what he has to do – on and off the pitch.

"In our last game against Borussia Monchengladbach, the minutes he played were outstanding.

"He needs to be active, he cannot drop too much at home.

"We need everyone after international break because I don't know how the players will come back."
