Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) is offering rewards to individuals who provide information about electricity thefts and meter tampering in an effort to curb the increasing number of power theft cases.SESB Senior General Manager (Asset Management) Norhizami Abu Hasan said the rewards are for information involving commercial and industrial consumers. “The incentive rate is set at five per cent of SESB’s total claims from offenders, with a maximum of RM1,000.
“We guarantee the safety of whistleblowers and they must channel the information directly to the SESB zone, area or branch managers,” he said in a statement, Thursday. Norhizami said the rewards would be paid once the offender is found guilty of the offence and after SESB has obtained the full amount of the claim filed against the party.
Those with information on such cases can contact the SESB Electricity Theft Prevention Task Force at 088-282778, 088-282779, or 088-282771.
