Manchester United did not allow Donny van de Beek to go out on loan in January.

The Dutchman arrived at United from Ajax in the summer.

However, he has struggled to get regular game time, even with the recent absence of Paul Pogba due to injury.

Van de Beek is very much a backup in the mind of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the moment.

And according to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Solskjaer and United got an offer from an undisclosed club outside of England for van de Beek.

The move would have been a six month loan, but United rejected the deal, and wanted to hold onto the player.
