PETALING JAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has ordered a mandatory safety awareness exercise for all helicopter operators following yesterday’s helicopter crash on the runway at Subang airport. It was the third such incident in less than six months. Two of the five onboard the Airbus H125 helicopter were injured.
CAAM chief executive officer Chester Voo said the safety exercise will involve local helicopter operators, maintenance organisations and pilots. He said the authority wanted to find out the root cause of these accidents and ensure the regulations were fully complied with. “This safety awareness exercise will cover safety management training, hazard identification and safety risk assessment for everyone,” he said in a statement.
