Mangroves: PES payment policy needed

Kota Kinabalu: Mangrove forests — a tropical coastal ecosystem on which millions of people depend — continued to be lost in Southeast Asia at an average rate of 0.18 per cent per year.

The mangrove forests of Southeast Asia are highly biodiverse and provide multiple ecosystem services upon which millions of people depend.
