England U21 coach Aidy Boothroyd admits Bayern Munich whiz Jamal Musiala has always felt more German than English.

The former Chelsea youth teamer committed to Germany earlier this month ahead of the Three Lions.

Boothroyd insists there's no hard feelings: "Jamal is a very calm young man. He has, of course, thought it all through well. But when you play in Germany, speak German and live with your German mother, it is very difficult to convince him that he is actually English.

"It was his decision, as he has talked about Germany being in his heart, and I understand that well.

"We wish him good luck and we focus instead on the players who will be a part of what we want to build here."
