Kota Kinabalu: Former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew (pic) said this year’s International Women’s Day (today) is being marked amid the reality that women are grossly underrepresented in the Sabah State Assembly, with only seven out of 73 elected representatives (9.6pc) being women. “The number has since reduced to six following the demise of the Bugaya Assemblywoman in November last year,” said Liew, who is also Tawau Member of Parliament and Api Api Assemblywoman.
