Kelechi Iheanacho scored a superb hat-trick to help Leicester secure a 5-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday.

U23s boss Paul Heckingbottom was in the dugout for the Blades following the exit of long-term manager Chris Wilder by mutual consent.

But there was no new manager bounce for the visitors as Leicester cruised to an emphatic victory.

The deadlock was broken when Iheanacho met Jamie Vardy's cut-back shortly before the interval.

Ayoze Perez doubled the advantage with 64 minutes on the clock to cap off a fine performance.

Iheanacho got his second after connecting on another sublime pass from Vardy before the Nigerian sealed his treble.

Vardy thought he got a goal with 10 minutes remaining but his shot took a touch off Ethan Ampadu for an own goal.

The Foxes are now in second on 56 points, but they will be overtaken by Manchester United if the Red Devils beat West Ham later on Sunday.

"We were nice and aggressive," Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers said after the game. "We didn't give them many chances.

"When we had the ball we had to be patient, it took a little bit of time but once we got the breakthrough we were outstanding with the speed of our game.

"Kelechi Iheanacho is a great guy and when he has been asked to come in he has performed. Absolutely delighted for him to have got a hat-trick in the Premier League. It's a great achievement and all were very good team goals."
