Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says they must keep hold of their best young players if they're to bounce back from relegation.

After defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, Wilder admits planning is underway for the Championship next season.

He said, "We can only be realistic.

"Even the most optimistic of staff, players and Sheffield United players will think that this is quite a tough situation we are in.

"We have had two seasons and we have raised a few quid in that period and invested in young players so that if we did take the drop we can come back strong.

"What we need to do now is keep hold of all the best players and maybe add a couple in the summer and come flying back.

"That's not the worse model in the world. I would love the model of somebody taking it in another direction.

"But we have to be realistic. This is a plan and we have to stick to it, hopefully we will do, and regroup and go again.

"Certainly in the last few games of the season we need to build some momentum and have a feel-good factor about ourselves and win some games."
