PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected seven new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today. In a statement, Noor Hisham said five were related to the workplace, and one each linked to the community and high-risk group. Three clusters were detected in Johor, two in Selangor and one each in Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.
Clusters that recorded the highest spike in cases today are the Jalan Kempas Tiga (334), Industri Sungai Gadut (128) and Tembok Tapah (80). The seven new clusters are: Selangor - Desa Empat – a workplace cluster in Kuala Selangor. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 24 after a targeted screening of employees at a supermarket in Desa Coalfields, Sungai Buloh. A total of 28 people have been screened with 18 found positive. - Jalan Melati – a workplace cluster in Gombak. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening of employees at a convenience store in Jalan Melati, Kuang. Some 16 people have been screened with seven testing positive. Johor
- Jalan Kempas Tiga – a workplace cluster in Muar. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 25 after a targeted screening of workers from two factories at the Bakri industrial area. A total of 592 people have been screened with 344 found positive. - Kampung Sungai Burung – a workplace cluster in Pontian. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening of factory workers in Pekan Nenas. Some 93 people have been screened with 22 testing positive. - Jalan Wawasan 12 – a workplace cluster in Batu Pahat. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening of factory workers in Jalan Wawasan 12. A total of 118 people have been screened with seven found positive. Kuala Lumpur - Jalan Cempedak – a high-risk group cluster in Kepong. The index case tested positive on Feb 21 after a screening of symptomatic individuals. The cluster involves a home for the elderly in Sentul. Some 30 people have been screened with 10 testing positive. Kelantan - Bukit Marak – a community cluster involving Kota Bharu and Bachok. The index case tested positive on Feb 18 after a screening of symptomatic individuals.
