Tercera Division outfit Racing Murcia have signed Real Madrid hero Fernando Morientes.
The three-time Champions League winner is the new ambassador for the Murcian club. He joins former Real Madrid pair Royston Drenthe, who signed for Murcia in January, and Edwin Congo, who is now a club scout.
Morris Pagniello, the president of Racing Murcia, has already tried to sign several well-known faces from the world football. Among those approached were Samuel Eto'o, Rafa Márquez and Antonio Cassano.
Morientes declared, "I know the group itself better than the Murcia club. I have had the opportunity and the luck to travel the world with them and see the project of some of their teams, such as Racing Capri from Italy, with the academies they have... it's something interesting because, knowing those behind it, they are eager to grow."
