PSG star Neymar was desperate to join Barcelona in the summer of 2019, it has been claimed.
An unnamed former Barca director has made the revelation, insisting only PSG's refusal to negotiate terms prevented the Brazil attacker from making a sensational return.
The source told the Athletic: "A lot of things have been revealed in the media that are not true. If he was going to come back, if this or that. But I knew it was impossible for him to come back to Barcelona. He was under contract with PSG. And PSG does not negotiate.
"We all thought he would come back, he made the effort to do it, he really tried. But then he realised that it was not going to be possible. He therefore remained professional, returned to PSG and gave everything for the team for which he plays."
