Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand says he would do a job anywhere in the team if necessary.

The defender has often been used out of position of late by manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

While he may prefer to play in his ideal position, Bertrand knows the team needs help during an injury crisis.

Bertrand told the Daily Echo: "It wasn't too bad [playing right back against Manchester City]. I am experienced enough and I do my role to achieve my objectives on the field for the team.

"That's what I was focused on – it didn't go too bad.

"It felt all right and I'll play anywhere for the team to be honest, wherever it may be I'll go out and give my best.

"We had a few changes in the team, so it was always going to need a near-on perfect game.

"But we started well, especially in the first 20 minutes or so. Unfortunately, they scored some goals that were probably avoidable a little bit.

"The game doesn't really truly reflect it (the score) but we will dust ourselves off and look forward to the weekend."
