Arsenal legend Alan Smith has backed the club to re-sign David Luiz.
The Brazilian is out of contract at the end of this season.
"It's a strange one, you never know in football. How things have turned around, I'm sure a lot of Arsenal fans would want to keep him," he told the London Evening Standard.
"He is a leader. I think that's what Arteta likes about him. That strong presence in the dressing room, somebody with a voice, so I'm sure it's something Arteta and the club will think about.
"He's still got a good couple of years left in him physically. And he seems to be enjoying his football. So that's going to be an interesting one because when the extension was signed, a lot of moans and groans were coming from Arsenal fans. I don't think it'll be quite the case this time."
