Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana admits he was lost during the 2019 Champions League final in Kyiv.

Lallana was a first-half substitute for the injured Mohamed Salah as Liverpool eventually lost the final to Real Madrid.

The midfielder recall: “I was petrified. Perhaps petrified is too strong a word, but I look back and feel in a position where I can say it. I had had a terrible year, I had injury after injury and couldn't find my rhythm on the pitch. I had just recovered from a major muscle injury, I think I had only played 15 minutes in the last Premier League game, and I had no form.

“I couldn't get close to anyone. I couldn't get close to (Luka) Modric or anyone. I just ran around everyone, I felt like a rabbit in the headlights.

“If you play football you will know that the worst thing is to enter a game after 20 or 25 minutes, and if on top of that I had no form and the game was of that magnitude ... I remember running everywhere and arriving late for tackles, I was suffocated.

"At no point did I think 'Wow, I have played the Champions League final', but rather I said 'Thank God that I have not made any mistake that cost us a goal'."
