TAWAU: Police will take legal action against those who damage barbed wire fences and police banners which were installed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the district.

District Police Chief, ACP Peter Umbuas (pic) said, the installation of the barbed wire fences, were to warn the public that the road cannot be passed during the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (Emco).

According to him, those found to have committed the offence can be investigated under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Areas of Infection) Regulations 2020 and the Police Act 1967.

Following that, Peter asked the public to report to him if there were individuals who deliberately removed and damaged police equipment and barriers in  Emco area.
