Kota Kinabalu: Sepanggar residents hoped that only those born and bred in the area will be fielded as candidates to contest the Sepanggar parliamentary seat come 15th General Election. “Regardless of any party contesting for the seat, we hope the candidates will be someone from Sepanggar and not those from other districts or parliamentary constituencies,” said Rizal Limat, who spoke on behalf of the residents. Rizal from Kg Unggun Jaya said only those who are really from Sepanggar will know what is needed for the community in the area.
“It does not matter if the candidate is a fisherman or a construction worker, as long as the candidate fielded is someone from Sepanggar,” he said in a statement, here, Thursday. He said it was high time for a true Sepanggar local to be fielded, especially since the seat has only seen outsiders being fielded as candidates all these years.
The Sepanggar seat is currently held by Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman (pic) who is born in Semporna.
