Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane was delighted with their comfortable 3-0 defeat of Cadiz.

Two goals from Karim Benzema and one from Alvaro Odriozola contributed to a 3-0 win over Cadiz to go top of LaLiga Santander. The hosts posed very little problems for Real Madrid's back three, too.

"The important thing for us is to be up for it and know how to defend," Zidane said at full time.

"We defended really well again. For me, that's key."

Benzema's double sees him go two behind Lionel Messi in the scoring charts in LaLiga Santander.

"I'm happy with what he's doing, not only with his goals," Zidane said on the striker.

"I'm happy with what he's doing, we're enjoying him and we hope we can enjoy him for a lot longer."

Luka Modric was absent from the side for the visit to Cadiz, leaving Real Madrid to deal with another injury.

"It's his back," Zidane said.

"But I think it's only a small thing.

"I hope we can be back with us soon."
