Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta knows that ultimate judgment of his tenure will be done through results.
The Gunners could miss out on European football entirely this season, if they do not win the Europa League.
Given Arsenal are in 9th position in the Premier League, they may not qualify for any European competition through their domestic finish.
Winning the Europa League is a chance to get into next season's Champions League, but first they must navigate a quarter final second leg with Slavia Prague, with the scores at 1-1.
"Whether you're doing a good job or not, externally it is only going to be judged with results," Arteta told reporters.
"Internally, you know what you are doing and can have many ways of judging it but at the end of the day, externally, results are the only important thing to give the perception we are moving forward in the right direction."
