
The Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has commented that the MySejahtera app has the potential to become a super app in the future, expanding to include features such as e-commerce, education, and delivery services.
Super apps are mobile apps that can provide an assortment of services within a single platform. AirAsia, for instance, has called referred to its app as such, with 15 types of products and services under three pillars: travel, e-commerce, and fintech. Other big names include Grab and WeChat.
“With this, we at KKMM (the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia) will continue with effort to develop not only the telecommunications infrastructure but also double the use of digital technology to realise MyDigital’s aspiration for the benefit of everyone towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and common prosperity,” said Datuk Saifuddin said in a statement.

Datuk Saifuddin also noted that the mySejahtera app – which is used by nearly 25 million Malaysians – has helped the government in managing information on infections, as well as monitoring the epidemic and registration for vaccine jabs in real-time. In particular, it has aided the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) in their tasks.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged the need to adapt to digital methods in healthcare services, whereby the most important and effective initiative is by creating the MySejahtera app,” added Datuk Saifuddin.
