Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is in the frame for the England U21 job.
The Daily Mail says Paul Tisdale, Lampard and Justin Cochrane will be among the front-runners for the England Under 21 job — though the FA is expecting scores of applications after Aidy Boothroyd's failure to qualify for the latter stages of the European Championships with a richly talented generation of players.
Boothroyd, who has been in charge since 2016, is out of contract this summer and is expected to leave after two defeats and one victory saw England eliminated at the group stages last week, opening the way to a fresh approach.
The new appointment will be the first significant choice of new FA technical director John McDermott.
The former Tottenham academy chief has worked closely with Tisdale, who was sacked by Bristol Rovers in January, when at Tottenham.
He was interviewed for the Under 21 post in 2013 and is admired for his work with young players such as Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu, Swansea's Matt Grimes and recent England debutant Ollie Watkins.
Tisdale took an advisory role last week at Colchester United.
Cochrane, who worked with the likes of Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp in the age-group team at Spurs, came in as England Under 15 coach in 2018 and now coaches England Under 17s.
