Marouane Fellaini is being linked with a return to England as he prepares to leave China's Shandong Luneng.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has requested his signing and hopes to welcome him this summer as a free agent.
Voetbal24 says Spurs considered Fellaini in January, but found Shandong Luneng's asking price too rich.
Instead, they will now wait until June to take the Belgium international in a free transfer, with Mourinho driving the deal.
Now 32, Fellaini has been playing the past three seasons in China.
