SEPANG, April 27 — The Selangor government will not hesitate to take stringent action against Ramadan bazaar operators that fail to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the bazaar would also be closed if there are reports of the traders or visitors violating the guidelines.

“However, the local authorities won’t be taking drastic action because they would first issue reminders if there are SOP violations.

“I believe other bazaars are also crowded but if there is strict adherence to the SOP, then things would be under control,” he said when met after visiting the Kosmopleks Ramadan bazaar in Sepang, yesterday.

Amirudin said to date, only the Greenwood Ramadan bazaar in Gombak was ordered to close for four days for failing to comply with Covid-19 SOPs.

At the same time, he had reminded that the Ramadan bazaars should enforce the one-way flow for the visitors.

“This would keep the situation at the bazaars under control. It may bring some discomfort (due to long queues) but that is the new norm that we have to adjust to curb the spread of the infection,” he said.
