Everton chief Marcel Brands is ready to open new contract talks with James Rodriguez.
The Colombia captain joined Everton last summer from Real Madrid and has a deal to 2022.
The Liverpool Echo says Everton have the option to extend James' contract for another season.
Meanwhile, manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that talks with Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has become a key member of the team this period, have been opened.
So far, James has six goals and nine assists.
