Manchester City chiefs are making Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland their summer market priority.

The Mirror says Haaland has overtaken Lionel Messi as Manchester City's No 1 transfer target.

City want the Borussia Dortmund striker as a direct replacement for Sergio Aguero, despite Pep Guardiola's claim that the Blues will not break the bank.

Guardiola has warned that Dortmund's £130million valuation is excessive – and the Blues will also not be going anywhere near the £600,000-a-week wage that agent Mino Raiola is reported to be demanding.

But the club closing in on a third Premier League title in four years are prepared to use the sell-on clause they had inserted into the deal that took Jadon Sancho to Dortmund as a £15million bargaining chip in any bidding war with Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Quadruple-chasing City are so determined to bring 20-year-old Haaland to the Premier League that a source at the club revealed they are “not actively pursuing" Barca superstar Messi.

When Sancho joined the Bundesliga club for £8million in 2017, the deal included a 15 percent sell-on clause. And City could offer to waive that payment.
