Former Benfica fullback Pedro Eugénio has revealed he was duped by an agent to believe he was signing for Tottenham.
Eugenio says he rejected a four-year pro contract offer from Benfica as an agent had claimed he had a deal waiting to be signed with Spurs.
Now with Taraz, in Kazakhstan, Eugenio told Vesti that after rejecting Benfica the agent disappeared.
"After that, that agent never answered my calls again," he said.
"I waited for several weeks, but I was psychologically devastated. I refused Benfica and then I couldn't stay there anymore. I'm still sorry today, but it's life."
