Kota Kinabalu: The court set Apr 29 for the trial of a 49-year-old Filipino charged with raping his daughter.Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus set the date for the man whose case was brought up for mention via Zoom. The man allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl between midnight and 1am around May 2019 in a house at Pulau Gaya here.
The offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between 10 and 30 years, and whipping at least 10 strokes of the cane, on conviction. In another court, four men and a woman were jailed for entering the State illegally. They were Roberto Rosalis Padetta, Mohd Hassan Basir, Abnar Gani, Zamri Mustafa and Sulma Tahassam.
Abnar was sentenced to seven months’ jail while the rest were each jailed four months after they admitted separately before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz, to the charge against them. The foreigners were arrested within the city between Sept 10, 2020 and March 21 this year after failing to produce their documents to the police. After completing their jail sentence, all the foreigners were ordered referred to the Immigration Department.
