Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has called an election.
It was announced today that Florentino had requested the board to launch the process of the club's presidential election.
Real Madrid, through an official statement, announced that the president, having met the Board of Directors held on Thursday, and in accordance with Article 38 Paragraph b of the bylaws of Real Madrid, "has asked the Board of Electors the start of the procedure for calling elections for the President and Board of Directors".
Florentino will run for another term, with Vicente Boluda and Enrique Riquelme expected to challenge.
The last presidential election by vote was held in 2006, which was won by Ramon Caleron.
