Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed the career revival of John Stones.
The City defender, who played in all three of England's World Cup qualifiers over the past fortnight, made an error that led to a Poland goal in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying win for Gareth Southgate's men on Wednesday.
But Stones showed his strong character and mindset to keep focused and helped set up Harry Maguire's late winner.
Asked at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Leicester if Stones' confidence would have taken a hit in seasons gone by, Pep said: “I didn't speak with John after the game. It's a good question.
“But he made the winning goal… he was there. If you don't adjust aggressively like that you can't make the goal. His body language was good."
Guardiola also insists Stones'is over past injury problems: “That was in the past.
“This season he was perfect. If I feel I want to use him, I will use him. I am sure he's ready for Saturday. I am so glad he played three games at a high level."
