TAWAU: A 49-year-old Filipino labourer, who slit his friend’s neck with a machete over a RM300 debt dispute three years ago, was sentenced to death by the High Court, here, Wednesday for the murder.

Robin Radjani Saih was found guilty by Judge Dr.

Dr Lim in delivering his decision held that the prosecution had proven its case against Robin beyond reasonable doubt.

  Robin had failed to make out his defence of provocation on a balance of probabilities, and has not cast a reasonable doubt in any other respect, said Dr Lim.

Robin was found guilty as charged and sentenced to death by hanging.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammed Ali Imran prosecuted.

Robin was represented by counsel Darmin Achok.
