Kota Kinabalu: Dr Jamili Nais recalls growing up in his village at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu and coming across many jade stones or boulders when swimming in the river,” he said of the plan to make Kinabalu a Geopark.

“There’s a nice river there, a beautiful pristine clear river. That’s the only river in Malaysia that has jade in it. Sometimes, swimming in it, some kids would discover boulders of jade. It’s also about protecting the river in my village, and the community there.”
