Mainz chief Christian Heidel has revealed how they priced Thomas Tuchel out of a move to Schalke in 2014.

Heidel, who has just returned to the club this year, was in charge of Mainz at the time and recalled how Schalke wanted to prise Tuchel away.

"You may remember, we had such a case in Mainz when Thomas Tuchel was courted by Schalke and I said he cost 60 million euros," said Heidel.

Chelsea manager Tuchel's contract with Mainz was running to 2015 and a year later he left for Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel had two years with Dortmund before joining PSG.
