Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has reaffirmed plans to keep hold of Joe Willock.

The midfielder is on-loan to the end of the season from Arsenal.

Bruce said, "You could see by his elation he was delighted for the team.

"He's a young lad. I'd love to keep him here. Obviously, we'll have big discussions with Arsenal but he's the modern day player: young, fit, athletic.

"He's only 21 so he's got a big future."

With the events of earlier on in the week Bruce says it was 'terrific' that the European Super League was not accepted by most fans.

"I was like everybody else and thankfully the big six have taken a slapping.

"It was pretty obvious to everyone we weren't going to accept it which was terrific.

"I played in the lower divisions for years before I got my break. I'm all for the pyramid in this country and I'm all for the way it works.

"The supporters have been heard and rightly so. To bring it down and bring it down so quickly, fair play to all the supporters."
