Barcelona midfielder Matheus Fernandes feels he's been frozen out this past season by coach Ronald Koeman.

The Brazilian has largely spent the season in Segunda B with Javier Garcia Pimienta's Barca B.

“I also ask myself the question. Why? I don't know," Fernandes told Mundo Deportivo. “The trainer told me that I wouldn't get many chances, but some chances. There have been competitions in which I could easily have participated. That has happened to others too.

"I don't know what's going on in the trainer's mind. That is the big question. I think we could have had more of a conversation. But he doesn't talk much and I still don't know why he didn't use me.

“One day I spoke to Koeman and he told me that he was not counting on me. That I could leave if I found a good club. But one where I could play. However, I did not find a club because I am still young and only just arrived in Europe. I asked Koeman to give me minutes to find a club, but that didn't happen. It was very strange.

“About a month later, after not playing anymore, I went to his office and asked why I wasn't getting more chances. 'Am I playing badly?' Was my question. And Koeman said, 'No, you played well. But I can't let you play because I'm not counting on you. You don't have the qualities to play for Barcelona'."
