Burnley midfielder Dwight McNeil is interesting Aston Villa.
The Athletic reports Villa retain a 'serious' interest in the player and have scouted him a lot as they look to improve on last season's 11th placed finish.
Villa need to strengthen in attack this summer after seeing the effect Jack Grealish's dozen-game absence with a leg injury had on their form.
Dean Smith's side won only three of the matches Grealish missed and with winger Trezeguet out for an extended period after surgery on a serious knee injury the need for firepower up front is clear.
McNeil is under contract until 2024 and it would take a big-money bid to convince Burnley to sell, a record-breaking fee for Villa which is almost certain to smash the £28 million paid to Brentford for Ollie Watkins last summer.
