Torino coach Davide Nicola is happy to have secured Serie A safety for another season.

Toro were in the dropzone when he replaced Marco Giampaolo on January 19.

Last night's 0-0 draw with Lazio guaranteed their place in the top flight, relegating Benevento in the process.

“This was the most complicated season. We got it at the end, I am disappointed to a degree because I feel we could've done it earlier, but we fought to the death amid a thousand difficulties and the way Lazio tried this evening just proves how much we deserve to stay up," Nicola told Sky Italia.

Torino is a club with a great deal of passion and I was a player here, so I know the fans are incredible. Representing this jersey is not easy for anyone and everything feels difficult.

“We tried to concentrate everything on tonight after two tough defeats. The lads did well to gain that focus. We tried to set simple tasks, because the most important thing was to feel some sense of security. We could've taken the lead and that would've given us a less tense finale."
